Summer School 2017 (Lance) Good & the Beautiful Language Arts

Throughout the summer we have been doing a little school here and there. Two days ago the weather wasn't overwhelmingly hot so Lance and I went outside to do a little school. Here he is working in his multiplication journal by Leslie Monroe.

 I read my book (that I lost and haven't been able to finish.=),
 Lance is also working on some Language Arts by the Good and the Beautiful. We are using this three times a week for 30-40 minutes a day. Once school starts back up we will use it four times a week. I had him start at a lower level and we are going to go through them a bit faster.

Once he completes the course I'm going to have him continue practicing with Trace-a-Story: Bible.

It's no secret that I absolutely LOVE the Thinking Tree journals and to tell you the truth I wasn't sure how to incorporate them in our homeschooling days this year. Update on Our 8th Grade Year with Using The Thinking Tree

Ethan my 8th grade son has been using The Thinking Tree full time for a while. I need to gather all his journals and write about it in more detail. This post may contain affiliate links. He's currently using: The Library Based Journal for Boys How to Make Money Timeline of World History Are You a Math Genius Word Hunt And he'll probably start United States Geography soon as well. Here is a page from his Library Based Journal. The lines on the copywork pages are too far apart for Ethan so we added some more. Ethan's Summer Learning Using The Thinking Tree (2017)

I'm challenging myself to have some summer learning fun with my kiddos for six weeks! Basically I want to make sure Ethan completes at least a few pages from two journals a day and two pages from Dyslexia Games Series C . One day it could be a few pages from his Learning Guide & Literature & Poetry . Another day from the Reading Time & Secret Diary . Eventually I'd like to have him writing in the Secret Diary daily but for now, a few pages a week will do. I'm going to do most of the reading during read aloud time and once done we both will pull out our journals (with him, either the Learning Guide or Reading Time) and have fun filling out the page or pages. It would be great if he does Math Genius daily but we'll shoot for two times a week. I want him to continue with his regular math four times a week.
