Real Science 4 Kids Middle School Chemistry Review!

Image
Is your child interested in chemistry? Real Science 4 Kids Focus on Middle School Chemistry for grades 5-8. I love that the text is in color and keywords are bolded in red. The font is fun and "kid" friendly. By "kid friendly" I mean that it doesn't look like regular textbook fonts like Times Roman or Serif fonts which for kids can get pretty boring and seem "adultish". What I received: ~Middle School Chemistry Teachers Manual: the teachers manual is an 88-page softcover book that contains much more than an answer key! The Teacher Manual has mini pages of the student workbook with the answers, For each chapter, it lists the materials needed, the time required,, and sometimes a 'Just for Fun' for instance in chapter 6: Mixtures there is a recipe for Easy Chocolate Cake! There are notes for each section in the workbook for example in chapter 6 section 6.4 it will tell you that the main point to emphasize in this section is how soap "allow...

The Basics of Critical Thinking (Review)

Image
I received The Basics of Critical Thinking from The Critical Thinking Co. to use with Ethan (and plan to purchase one for Lance too!). The target age/grade is for children in 4th-9th grade. I think it's a great Jr. High course. I plan to have Ethan complete a few pages a week. We are going to take our time with it. Now that he's in 8th grade his homeschooling load is increasing and I don't want to overwhelm him. The Basics of Critical Thinking is full color and the original owner has permission to copy for their use ONLY. I love how generous The Critical Thinking Co. is with allowing families to make copies. With that said though I pan to purchase another for Lance. It just makes things easier for me. My two boys don't like school. They'd rather be climbing trees, playing with LEGO blocks, or playing Minecraft so I really, really, appreciate that The Basics of Critical Thinking minimizes the "lecture" time. The lessons are easy-to-understand using diagr...

Novel Thinking from The Critical Thinking Co. (Review)

Image
The Critical Thinking Co. never disappoints! I love their stuff. Lance will use the Novel Thinking~ In Their Own Words: Abraham Lincoln . My son has been having it on easy street when it comes to a literature program, so this year I thought we'd better get him started. In Their Own Words is geared toward grades 3-6, perfect for Lance who will be in grade 6. The guide will help your child with reading comprehension and vocabulary covering: Main Idea & Supporting Details Characters, Setting, and Plot Cause & Effect Making Inferences and Predictions Drawing Conclusion Comparing & Contrasting Sequencing As you can see your child will cover a lot while reading about Abraham Lincoln and completing the 100 page workbook. In Their Own Words: Abraham Lincoln there are 14 Lessons (chapters) each Chapter has between 3-4 pages of activities to be completed. Depending on your child's age, reading level, and writing skills you can pace your child, have him complete one to two ch...

Homeschool Portfolio Printable Pack by Not Consumed (Review)

Image
Not Consumed has been so kind to let me review the Homeschool Portfolio Printable Pack. This is a great way to get your homeschool organized. This post may contain affiliate links. Please see my disclosure. What is included in your Homeschool Portfolio Pack :  ~About Me Page: this is really cute and I love, love, that it includes "My Favorite Bible Verse" a neat thing for our kiddos to add and look back on years to come. Also included is space for your child to write seven things about them and questions to answer like favorite book, toy, place etc. A neat page to record lots of memories. ~Morning Checklist: this way your child doesn't forget to brush his teeth (mine still forget if I don't remand them, ugh!) and I like that Proverbs 21:5a is at the top of the Morning Checklist. ~Reading Record: this includes space for your child to write the book title, date, author, and rate it by coloring in the starts. Pretty neat. My kids love the 5 star rating part. And the v...

Perfect Reading and Beautiful Handwriting (Review)

Image
Janice Campbell from Everyday Education sent me Perfect Reading & Beautiful Handwriting to review for you all! What I received: Perfect Reading & Beautiful Handwriting Bundle -Print & eBook Bundle . You can also purchase on the print or only the eBook as well. What is really unique about this program is it not only teaches your child how to read but write in the beautiful Italic handwriting. There's a total of 60 step-by-step phonic lessons! I didn't realize that the typical printing taught to children have only six letters that are made with one stroke. Italic has twenty. The book teaches your child the strokes, then gives many practice pages (as your child is learning to read), at the end of the program (Chapter 6) it shows how to join the italic letters for cursive writing. This is something I wish I had started all six of my kids with. Maybe they'd have beautiful handwriting as teenagers! The first chapter in Perfect Reading & Beautiful Handwriting p...

Reading Journal by Not Consumed (Review)

Image
Not Consumed has allowed me to review a few of their products! I'm excited to share the Reading Journal. Ethan has been using it a few times a week. This post may contain affiliate links. Please see my disclosure. I received a digital download which is great because I can print as many reading journals as I need. I'm normally not a fan of digital books but this one I like. If you prefer though you can purchase a physical book through  Amazon . This is recommended for grades 2nd-6th. Your child chooses the books making it a perfect on "grade" level reading. What I LOVE about this Reading Journal is it works with any book which is wonderful because your child can choose what he wants to read. The Reading Journal has 30 lessons that are repeated six times throughout the year. The lessons include vocabulary, summarizing, comparing text to text, and character traits to name a few! The lessons are great for reluctant readers and those allergic to pencils because all they ...
