Visit From My Sis!

My sister MaryEllen came for a visit. It was totally a God thing because she was here on business and it so happened that she normally would have worked Friday but didn't because it was Memorial Day. Meaning she could come with us to see Josh on Advancement Day  from ALERT Academy. We were all so excited. She arrived Saturday and was able to stay the weekend with us. Monday Lupe and I dropped her and Annette off in Fort Work at the Hilton. Annette stayed with her from Monday-Thursday. Thursday night we picked them both up. Friday-Sunday she stayed with us. Friday going to the ALERT campus to see Josh. We stayed overnight renting three dorm rooms (wish I would have taken pics). We came home Saturday and dropped MaryEllen off at the airport on Sunday. It was sad to see her go. BUT, we made the most of her stay. Since she was here for a quick visit, we had to hit all the coffee shops in one day! Our first stop was Shoemaker & Heardt Coffee Shop. Update on Our 8th Grade Year with Using The Thinking Tree

Ethan my 8th grade son has been using The Thinking Tree full time for a while. I need to gather all his journals and write about it in more detail. This post may contain affiliate links. He's currently using: The Library Based Journal for Boys How to Make Money Timeline of World History Are You a Math Genius Word Hunt And he'll probably start United States Geography soon as well. Here is a page from his Library Based Journal. The lines on the copywork pages are too far apart for Ethan so we added some more. My 8th grade plans that I wrote back in June and it has changed a bit from in October too. Mostly the writing. I really need to buckle down and stick with a writing program with him. Yikes, crazy me. How We Use The Thinking Tree Journals for 8th Grade

It's no secret that I absolutely LOVE the Thinking Tree journals and to tell you the truth I wasn't sure how to incorporate them in our homeschooling days this year. My son is a reluctant reader/learner and needs more structure. I struggled a bit with how to mesh the journals with my son's school days because he does need more guidance. Thankfully I found a solution. It's not exactly how I pictured us using our Fun-Schooling journals but we are using them!!! Yay! If you are more structured homeschooler and were wondering how to incorporate The Thinking Tree ~Fun-Schooling journals for creative & active kids into your homeschool.
