Teach By Example ~ Mom School Week 1 (2017)

Image
I'm really excited to host Teach by Example ~ Mom School. I love deciding which books I want to use and I'm pretty excited about some of them, well most of them. The Thinking Tree has some journals that I will be using during the Six Week Teach By Example ~ Mom School Challenge! Winter Homeschooling Journal ~ I really like the idea of using a journal that the kids use. I think it gives them a visual with how to use the journal and it also gives mom the chance to "show" her kids what is expected of them without really telling them. It's a neat way to talk and discuss in a non threatening way too because you can use your (mom's) work. 365 Day Thanksgiving Journal ~ Sometimes I can be quite negative so I'll be using this journal to keep me continuously being thankful (did that make sense 😁). I plan to ask the kids what they are thankful for and put that it in the journal as well. A Devotional Coloring Book: Bible Time Journal ~ I'll use this for the d

It's been almost a year since I've hosted Mom School ~ Teach by Example ! I had so much fun. I'm excited to start this up again. If you all would like to join me that would be wonderful. I will have a link-up every Monday. You can grab the graphic and link-up! Right now I'm gathering my books to start January 30th. I plan to use my Winter Girls Journal again along with my 365 Days of Thanksgiving , Bible Time , my 90 Day Pocket Planner , and of course a stack of books. This post may contain affiliate links. Please see my disclosure. I still have a few books that I want to add but they are not here yet. I'll blog a little about the books I have chosen next week. Here is a peek at some of the books I'll be reading and journaling about. Last time I encouraged you all to use one of the student journals and adapt it for Mom Schooling, and although I loved it, it didn't work out for some moms so of course use any journal that works for you. I know Sarah has made

History Day

On this day not much schooling got done but we did get an all day history lesson. The kids paid for lunch too. Pizza, chicken wings, and bread sticks, I bought the bread sticks, hehe. I didn't eat any of it. Instead I had a delicious Caesar Salad and a P&J smoothie . Yum! I was trying to get a picture of him smiling but id didn't happen. Wonder if he was nervous.  When Lance saw all the people that attended he said, "Why do all those people go when they could watch from their living room?" he made me laugh.

90 Day Pocket Planner by The Thinking Tree

Image
Sarah from The Thinking Tree has come out with some really neat planners. She explains: One of the most important activities we are doing with our planner is THINKING. We are stopping to ponder the question every day: What is Important? Can I do it today? What is necessary? Will I do it today? When we are in survival mode we are just trying to fix the problems caused by neglecting important and necessary items that were not prioritized. Sometimes we are going through hard times, loss, new baby, sickness and we really fall behind in a lot of necessary things. But I find that when I am unable to get up and do the necessary things, I can still do many important things. I can have a child snuggle up with me and read a stack of books. I can give my children a chance to grow by asking them to prepare Christmas Dinner because I was up too late on Christmas Eve. So many important things can happen when we are down. Right now I am at a Dr appointment with my husband in Hungary, for stomach pain

Make-Up Travel Roll-Up Bag to the Rescue for Taming Some Clutter!

It's been a while since I've blogged. I really meant to blog something daily in December. Even if it was just a picture. Then thought January would be good but as you can see I missed the first two days already so that didn't work out either. Maybe Feb. There's so much going on where do I even start. Haha,  Here's a nifty little idea for you all who own craft stuff. What mama doesn't right? I don't know if I ever mentioned that I like to color so if I didn't now you know. Consider yourself informed 😁 I own a Mary Kay Travel Roll Up bag. It's pretty neat except I don't know what to use it for. I don't travel much and when we do I have another bag I put my stuff in. I didn't want to give it away because it was expensive ($35 to me is a lot!). It was a gift too so unless I was going to to give it to my sister MaryEllen it wasn't going anywhere, hehe. The other day I got this awesome idea. Well, actually the Lord gave me the idea because
